The Pre-Call Trust Audit
By the time a buyer books a call with you, most of the decision has already happened. They've scrolled your LinkedIn, skimmed a newsletter or two, looked at your website, and maybe asked someone who's worked with you. The call just confirms what they already think.
Most founders never walk that path themselves. They polish the pitch deck and the sales script, and leave the part the buyer actually sees first to chance. Here's how to check it:
1. Walk the path your buyer takes.
Open a private browser window and search your name the way a stranger would. Then visit your LinkedIn profile, your last 10 posts, your website, and your most recent newsletter, in that order. Write down what someone would believe about you after five minutes, and nothing more.
2. Find the gaps where trust drops.
Look for the moments a buyer would hesitate. A headline that doesn't say who you help. A feed full of reposts with nothing in your own words. A newsletter that hasn't gone out in two months. Each gap is a small reason to keep looking at someone else.
3. Fix the first thing they see.
You don't need to rebuild everything this week. Start with whatever a buyer hits first, which is usually your headline and your last three posts. Make sure they say what you do, who you do it for, and show one piece of proof.
If a buyer had to decide based only on what they found in five minutes, would they book the call? That's the question your content is answering every day, whether you check it or not.

"The Follow-up Content Test"
Most founders send a recap email after a sales call and stop there. But the buyer goes back to your content after the call to decide whether their first impression holds up.
This week, after your next sales or discovery call, send the prospect one post or newsletter you've written that answers the biggest question they raised. Skip the pitch. Just: "You asked about X, I wrote about this here."
Track how many of those conversations move to a next step compared with your usual follow-up.
The hypothesis is that content which answers a buyer's real question does more selling after the call than another reminder about your offer. It shows you've already thought about their problem in public, before they were paying you to.

I Stopped Saving My Best Opinions for Sales Calls
For a long time, my sharpest thinking only came out on calls. In public, I posted the safe version of my ideas. In private, with a prospect, I'd finally say what I actually believed about their market, their content, and what they were getting wrong.
Those calls went well. The problem was that only the people already on a call ever heard it. Everyone deciding whether to get on a call with me saw the cautious version, and the cautious version looked like everyone else.
What changed was moving those opinions into my content. If I'd say it to a prospect, I'd write it for everyone. The people who disagreed scrolled past, and the people who agreed showed up to calls already nodding along.
Your content is the first sales call most buyers ever have with you. Give them the version of you that closes deals.

LinkedIn Tests a Network Feed and Adds Pinned Comments
This month, LinkedIn announced it's testing a dedicated Network feed that shows posts from your connections and the people you follow, starting in the U.S., India, U.K., and Australia. Authors can now pin helpful comments to the top of their posts, and a new creator dashboard puts analytics and earning tools in one place. LinkedIn also introduced Advice Sessions, which let verified experts in the U.S. charge for 1:1 consultations directly on the platform.
LinkedIn is building more space for the people you already know, alongside the algorithmic feed. That makes your existing network a more reliable place to show up, which rewards founders who've built real relationships over raw reach.
For founders, there are two lessons. Your connections are about to see more of what you post, so make sure your content would hold up to a buyer who already knows you. And pinned comments give you a new spot to place proof, like a client result or a link to your newsletter, right under your best posts.
