“Why?”

The number one question I get every day since I left my 9-5 was, “Why did you do it?”

I think about this quite often actually.

The simple answer is…

Freedom.

Let me explain…

When I was growing up I was taught one path:

I watched my dad work.

He watched his dad work.

It was just the way it had always been done.

Then when I actually did it I realized something.

I had 3 college diplomas and a job that gave me just enough money to make it to the next month.

If I was lucky I would get a raise every year to keep up with inflation.

The realization came one night when I was looking at a stack of mail:

I was never going to get out of this hole with just a yearly 5% raise.

Then I started thinking about my kids.

Every night I would get home and have roughly 1.5 hours to spend with them.

I would be gone before anyone in my family woke up the next morning.

I was depressed and defeated.

Okay now let's get to the part where I actually did something about it…

I started a Twitter account.

Then I failed at affiliate marketing, Amazon FBA, and several other side hustles.

But, this all led me to writing and meeting Dakota Robertson.

I started working for him and then he taught me how to build my own business.

I finally felt a sense of control.

The day I turned in my notice at my 9-5 is the day I chose freedom.

It hasn't been easy, but it has been one hell of a ride.

Building a brand is about more than copywriting, marketing, and posting content online…

It’s about adopting the mindset, skills, and beliefs that it takes to build a brand and business online.
