I can’t be the only one, right?
I spend an obnoxious amount of time looking at different setups and plotting my redesign.
I’ve always been a big believer in the importance of your environment.
The quality of your environment (workspace) determines the quality of your future.
And what’s more important than your desk setup where you spend hours upon hours each day?
Here are three ideas for you on how to improve your desk setup:
If you’re like me, you’re always looking for new and insightful newsletters to read.
One of my favorites that I’ve been reading a ton lately is The Small Business Mentor.
Alan, the writer of the newsletter, has built his government contracting business to over $30M in revenue.
In his newsletter, he shares everything he’s learned along the way.
And my favorite part?
He’s a no BS kind of guy… you get all of the details, all of the information you need, without the fluff.
Sign up for his newsletter below:
1. Ergonomic Enhancements
Ergonomic Chair: Choose a chair with adjustable height, lumbar support, and armrests to maintain a healthy posture.
Standing Desk: Consider a standing desk or a convertible desk that allows you to switch between sitting and standing throughout the day.
Keyboard and Mouse Placement: Keep your keyboard and mouse at elbow height and ensure your wrists are in a neutral position to prevent strain.
2. Optimize Lighting
Natural Light: Position your desk near a window to take advantage of natural light.
Monitor Light Bar: Use a monitor light bar or desk lamp with adjustable brightness and color temperature. I can’t work without mine.
Screen Positioning: Place your monitor to avoid glare from windows or overhead lights, and adjust the brightness of your screen to match your surroundings.
3. Declutter and Organize
Cable Management: Use cable organizers or clips to keep cords tidy and out of the way. This not only looks cleaner but also reduces the risk of tangling.
Desk Accessories: Utilize desk organizers, trays, and drawers to keep essential items within reach while minimizing clutter on the surface.
Personal Touches: Add a few personal items like a plant, family photo, or artwork to make the space feel inviting, but avoid overloading your desk with decorations.
