How to Grow on LinkedIn

A Simple & Effective Approach

After growing my LinkedIn following to over 31,000 followers in just a few months, I’ve learned a few lessons that are crucial for success.

If you’re serious about growing on LinkedIn and creating a high-value personal brand that drives leads for your business… then keep reading.

The Fundamentals

Before you worry about posting content, you need to get your profile, branding, and niche down first.

Here are some basic tips on your profile:

  • Profile pic: It almost goes without saying at this point, you need a professional profile pic if you want your account to be taken seriously. Your iPhone camera will work, or you can use the new AI tools.

  • Banner: Create a professional-looking bio that gives the audience an indication of what you do in one sentence or less. When someone clicks on your profile, they should know what you do.

  • Bio & CTA: Your bio should explain the who, why, and what of you and your brand. Who are you? What qualifies you to do what you do? Why are you doing this? And what do you help people with? Always answer these questions.

Now that you’re profile is on point, you need to establish your niche.

This one is up to you, but know this… the businesses that do the best are in one of these three categories of helping people:

  • Health

  • Wealth

  • Relationships

If you can help people improve in one or more of those categories, you’re already setting yourself up for a high probability of success.

Your branding should follow the same lines as your profile… everything should be in sync.

The Posting Strategy

There are numerous ways to go about posting on LinkedIn, but here’s what’s helped me grow…

One post per day.

Yep, that’s it.

But here’s what the week should look like…

  • 2-3x Long-form or Carousel-type posts per week

  • 2-4x “Creator Credit” posts per week

  • 1-3x regular/shorter posts per week

The Long Game

Know this going into it… personal branding is not a get-rich-quick scheme.

It takes time.

And anything worthwhile takes time, so don’t rush your personal branding efforts, don’t take shortcuts, and most importantly… do the work.

The two most important factors that determine your personal branding success are:

  • Mindset: Play the “until” game. Instead of giving up after 6-12 months of seeing no results. Commit to doing the work “until” you become successful.

  • Consistency: Anybody can post 1x per week, even 3x per week. But it takes a certain level of grit and determination to consistently post 7 days per week and provide value.

If you focus on these two things for the remainder of 2024, I promise you’re personal brand will grow and you will have a high-value asset for your brand and business.
