Join the Legacy Built Community HERE π
Itβs trueβ¦
The first community I joined when I was getting started as a ghostwriter kicked me out.
Hereβs the story:
I was doing odd jobs on Twitter trying to figure out different ways to make money online.
Then I came across the concept of βghostwriting.β
βWhat on Earth does that mean?β I thought.
After leaning in and doing some research, I learned people pay these βghostwritersβ to help them grow their social media accounts online and create content for them.
Sounds pretty cool, Iβm going to do that.
Since I didnβt know hardly anything about it, I looked for a community to join so I could learn from them and bounce ideas off each otherβ¦
I found one and started engaging and spending hours daily.
I was willing to do whatever it took to figure it out and make it workβ¦
After getting the general advice and feedback from the group on how to grow my own account, I started writing 2 threads (long-form posts) per week, per their recommendation.
I saw some traction and my own account started growing by a few hundred followers a dayβ¦ but that wasnβt going to cut it.
If I was going to build a ghostwriting business, my account had to be case study #1.
Why would somebody trust me to grow their account if I couldnβt even grow my own?
So, after thinking of different ways to speed up the process, I thought:
βI wonder what would happen if I wrote a thread every day for 30 days?β
I asked the group what they thought and they said itβd be too much and most people canβt commit to that and to take a βless is moreβ approach.
I asked if anyone had even tried it and they said βnoββ¦
Well, thatβs all I needed to hear.
I said screw thatβ¦ Iβm willing to work harder than anywhere here and started writing a thread every single day.
And to everyoneβs surprise (especially my own)β¦
Within 30 days I had grown by 40,000 followersβ¦
(Mind you, this was back when threads were extremely powerful on the platform)
I came back to the community excited to share the newsβ¦
They greeted me with disgust and berated me with question upon question:
βHow did you do that?β
βHow much did it cost to buy those followers?β
And the one that still cracks me up, βI bet you botted your account, didnβt you?β
Still to this day, I have no idea how to βbot an account.β
So, shortly after accusing me of cheating and βbottingβ my account, they kicked me out.
I took it as a positive moment⦠I want people around me who are going to support me, lift me up, and encourage me⦠not put me down.
And now, after growing my account to over 350,000 followers, getting kicked out of that community was one of the best things that happened to me on this journey.
Those werenβt my people.
And thatβs okay.
Because that led me to start my own community.
