How to Feel Less "Busy"

What do most people say when you ask them, “How are you doing?”

The most common answer (other than “good”) is…

“Busy”

Most of the time… that’s bullsh!t.

They just suck at managing their time and their priorities.

Partly because nobody learns how to do this growing up (along with many other important topics that schools don’t teach).

I was looking at my to-do list, half a page long, looking at my Google Calendar, almost wide open besides meetings, and decided I needed to do something different.

Here is my solution…

Time Blocking

While I did take this image directly from Google… my schedule looks similar.

All of my “Deep Work” tasks are in the mornings, Monday through Friday.

And the afternoons are left open for meetings or “shallow” tasks (admin type work or busywork).

After going through this organizing process, all I have to do now is have enough discipline to stick to the script.

That’s literally it and I’ll be on pace and on track to get everything I need to done before 3 pm on Fridays.

I can’t tell you how much relief came from just getting all of my to-dos and projects out on paper and organizing them throughout the week.

So, give this a try and see how it can reduce your anxiety and stress around being “busy.”
