Build Your Personal Brand

6 Steps to a Powerful Personal Brand in 2024...

Welcome to this week’s edition of The Legacy Letter where every Tuesday you’ll get an email directly from me helping you build your brand, grow your business, and leave your legacy.

Let’s get into today’s message…

A Brief Overview of Today’s Legacy Letter:

How to Build Your Personal Brand in 6 Simple Steps

  1. Define Your Brand

  2. Consistent Brand Identity & Visuals

  3. Strategic Content Creation

  4. Networking & Relationship Building

  5. Offer Creation

  6. Skill Development

Over 2 years ago I started my Twitter account. Since then I’ve:

  • Quit my 9-5

  • Lost over 40 lbs.

  • Spent more time with my family

  • Built a $60k+ per month ghostwriting agency

But I’ve made hundreds (if not thousands) of mistakes along the way.

If I were to start over and build my personal brand from 0, this is the simple, 6-step process I would follow.

(Side note: These steps apply to both LinkedIn and X)

Let’s get into it:

1. Define Your Brand

Identify your values, passions, skills, unique qualities, mission, vision, etc. And do that ASAP.

The sooner you can uncover and define these for yourself and your brand, the better off you’ll be.

This includes deciding on a niche. You can start off broad, but you’ll want to get more niched down as you go forward.

2. Consistent Brand Identity & Visuals

Once you’ve decided on your personal brand and what it’s going to be, you need to determine what it’s going to look like.

Pick a professional profile photo and create a banner that is alignment with your offer and your brand. Take a look at my LinkedIn profile as an example.

When it comes to visuals, choose a logo and colors that will remain consistent throughout your branding.

3. Strategic Content Creation

This is arguably the most important part of your success as a personal brand.

If you’re not posting consistently, your brand is never going to grow and you won’t see the results you’re looking for.

The game plan for X: Post at least 2 times per day, and post at least 2 long-form posts per week. If you do this for 6+ months you will see big-time results.

The game plan for LI: Post at least 1 time per day, and post at least 3 long-form or carousel-style posts per week.

If you’re lacking the engagement you want on X, this is for you…

4. Networking & Relationship Building

There’s a reason they say, “Your network is your net worth.”

I wouldn’t be where I am today without the relationships I’ve been able to build over the past two years.

And it all happened because I sent one DM to these other creators and entrepreneurs.

Believe me when I tell you… you are one DM away from changing your life.

Along with reaching out and building your network, you need to be engaging with your audience. When someone comments on your content, reply back to them.

5. Offer Creation

Arguably the 2nd most important factor of your personal branding success… creating offers.

If you’re like most people, your goal is to use your personal brand as a means to grow your business and provide an additional asset for future monetization opportunities.

One of the best resources I’ve come across for this is Alex Hormozi’s $100M Offers.

If you haven’t already picked up his book, I’d highly recommend checking it out… it’s a masterclass on how to build offers for your business.

6. Skill Development

The most successful creators you see out there didn’t just create content and build offers… they developed their skill set, too. Skills like:

  • Sales

  • Marketing

  • Web design

  • Copywriting

  • Email marketing

That is what separates the good creators from the great ones.

If your skill stack consists of all of these, AND you’re consistently creating high-quality content, it’s nearly impossible for you to fail as a creator.

There you have it! The exact 6-step process I’d follow to build a personal brand in 2024.

That’s all for today’s message. Thanks for reading!

Until next time... Keep building,

Clifton
