3 Ways to be More Creative
Branding Daily
People talk about it all the time in conversation.
“Oh, they’re so creative.”
Or
“I wish I was more creative.”
Here’s what I’ve learned after 3 years of writing online…
This may come as a shock to most…
Everyone is creative.
There’s creativity inside of every single person.
The only difference is some of us let it die inside of us over time due to working a boring job or doing the same mundane tasks day after day.
Creativity is a skill. It can be worked on just like everything else.
And it’s a skill worth learning from a number of perspectives. It helps with problem-solving, innovation, and the ability to adapt to new challenges.
Most importantly, creativity is crucial for problem-solving, and for finding unique solutions to complex problems, which is essential in all areas of life.
So, that being said… here are three ways you can work on your creativity muscle:
1. Write Every Day
Writing has a way of getting your thoughts out on paper and turning them into ideas, plans, and action items.
One of my favorite quotes on writing is this below:
“The key to being a great writer is picking up the pen and writing whenever inspiration hits. Lucky for me, inspiration hits at 9am every morning.”
Writing every day is a must if you want to be more creative.
2. Brain Dump Sessions
Have you ever had brain fog? Yeah, me too.
One thing I’ve found really helps with brain fog is taking some time at the end of the day and writing down everything that’s on your mind.
It could be things you have to do, tasks, chores, errands you need to run, etc. Whatever it is you’re procrastinating on, overthinking, deciding on, just write it down.
What usually happens for me is the things I have to do are nowhere near as overwhelming as my mind made them out to be.
The less cluttered your mind is, the more you’re able to let your mind wander and think creatively.
3. Read Often
Read any and all books that interest you, fiction or non-fiction.
The problem with reading is most people treat it as a chore. They pick a self-help book, and then they force themselves to read 10 pages every day.
It shouldn’t work like that, and you’re less likely to read it when you’re disinterested and feel forced.
Instead, have a few books that interest you from all genres, and pick up whatever you’re feeling at the time.
Treat reading as play or relaxing time. It’s one of the best ways our minds can process and generate new ideas.
There you have it! I hope that helps.
